Dian Bay snorkeling - fun and relax for you and your family
Coral canyons, exotic marine life, wall drops and reefs are easily witnessed from the surface of the waters. Snorkeling is always an assured treasured memory of the endless treasures you will observe beneath the blue ocean. Unlike most of the other islands where the diving is on the fringing reef or around offshore rocks, Antigua has real coral reefs on the north, south and east sides. These reefs are relatively shallow and have suffered hurricane damage but both Boons Reef to the north and Cades Reef to the south are dived. To really sample Antigua's diving you would need to dive on both the south and west side of the island. None of the operators cover the whole diving area, so you would need to dive with more than one store. See the book for the diving range of each operator. Antigua has a few wreck dive sites. Most are in shallow water and on the west side, which tends to mean variable visibility. Several of the wrecks have interesting stories about how they ended up under rather than on the water. Climb aboard the captain’s custom built all weather speed boat (maximum 24 persons) at the hotel beachfront to be whisked away to an incomparable snorkeling site for an exciting new snorkel experience on Antigua’s longest barrier reef, Cades Reef National Park. Using a special hand-held “power scooter” James Bond style! Explore colorful coral formations amid abundant marine life – you might even spot stingrays, turtles and spotted eagle rays. Simple to use and safe to operate, your guide instructs you fully on how to use your individual “power scooter” as he leads you on a fascinating tour of this magnificent underwater world. The boat will provide you with masks, snorkel fins and “power scooter”. Never snorkeled before? Don’t worry, you’ll have a lesson by a professional guide. Participants must be in good physical condition and less than 250 lbs. No children under 8 years of age. Bring along sun block, towel, swimsuit and camera.
